Q: Why is it veintiún carros and NOT veintiuno carros?
When any number ending with the form uno (uno, veintiuno, treinta y uno, ciento uno, etc.), the "o" is dropped when it occurs directly before a masculine noun.

Do not use the conjunction y after the hundreds or thousands place, they are only used after the tens place.
