Questions about Negation:

Q: Why is it No me gusta nada and not No me gusta algo?

A: Spanish uses double negation. Any words that can be either affirmative or negative (nada/algo, ningún/algún, nunca/siempre, nadie/alguien) must agree with one another within the same clause. Therefore is there is a 'no' before the verb, any other word that has a negative form must appear in its negative form.

Q: Why is it No hay nada OR Nada hay NOT Hay nada?

Remember there should be a negative word before the verb to form a negative sentence in Spanish.

Q: Why is it No me gusta la música and NOT Me no gusta la música?

For verbs that have preceding pronouns, the negator no, or other negating word, MUST go before the pronouns.
