The purpose of the SpanishChecker Vocabulary Guide is to provide instructors with a starting point for teaching common words. While the mastery of grammatical rules is important, vocabulary is central to the communication of ideas. When acquiring vocabulary, students should first learn individual items, then be exposed to them in a variety of contexts (via exercises and readings supplied by the teacher). Also, comprehension should precede production. Our guide is designed to facilitate such a trajectory.
Each lexical category contains a table with English and Spanish columns that can be hidden as the student moves from comprehension to production. After initial exposure to words via English/Spanish translation, students can listen to a word, then write it out to confirm that they are able to produce it. Finally, each section contains a series of interactive, vocabulary-building exercises.
You can find a description of how to move through the Vocabulary Guide here.
Once students are ready to build sentences with their vocabulary, they can make use of SpanishChecker's Grammar Guide and Grammar Checker.
