Questions

Questions about verbs in the present:

Q: Why is it yo hablo and NOT yo hable?

The yo form of regular present tense verbs is always -o, that’s all there is to it! For example, (yo) hablo, (yo) canto, (yo) conozco, etc.

Q: Why is it élpuede and NOT él pode?

The verb poder requires a stem change in the present tense (from o to ue).

Q: Why is it ellos van and NOT ellos iren

The verb ir is an exception and doesn't follow the general pattern of -ir verbs.
